Dr Henry "Elie" Schwartz - Welcome to the practice

Schwartz Pediatrics is proud to introduce its newest physician Dr. Henry “Elie” Schwartz.

Starting July of 2015, Dr. Elie began working full time allowing Schwartz Pediatrics to once again expand its hours for both the Bartlett and Schaumburg offices.

Dr. Elie is Dr. Dave’s son and true to the family’s calling decided that pediatrics was a perfect fit for him. Many of you might remember Dr. Elie as a high school or college student working summers in the office. Following that experience he was hooked on pediatrics. His goal is for kids to feel good about themselves. He loves making them smile and laugh. He really enjoys sitting down and talking to patients and their families. He relates well to kids of all ages and connects easily with them.

Dr. Elie grew up in Buffalo Grove attending Stevenson High School. He attended the University of Rochester in New York completing his undergraduate degree in just three years and then went to Rush Medical College in Chicago for medical school. Dr. Elie started his pediatric residency at UCLA but after one year transferred back to the Chicagoland area in order to complete the final two years of his residency closer to home at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge.

Dr. Elie is Board Certified in Pediatrics.

Dr. Elie has always loved sports. He earned all-conference honors while playing baseball in high school and played a year of Division III baseball in college. He has completed both the Chicago Marathon and Triathlon. He loves the outdoors and enjoys hiking, biking, kayaking, cross country skiing, and snow boarding. He plays both the guitar and piano. On his days off, he likes to read, watch movies, and try his hand at cooking.

Welcome Dr. Elie!

Dr. Sam Schwartz Announces Retirement

Dr. Sam first opened the doors of the Bartlett office back in 1981. After 30 plus years of outstanding service to the community, this wonderful pediatrician has decided to retire.

He was one of the leading advocates of breastfeeding throughout the community and served as a medical associate of La Leche League. He was a pioneer in our area for referring breastfeeding mothers to lactation consultants that ultimately led to hospitals hiring lactation consultants as part of their routine staff.

In addition, Dr. Sam was an early proponent of prenatal classes. He was one of the first pediatricians to attend community childbirth classes and helped develop a curriculum for expectant parents. Over the years, Dr. Sam helped prepare countless families for the upcoming birth of their child and the months to follow.

Dr. Sam always strongly believed in the family connection and worked alone from 1981-1988 waiting for his younger brother Dr. Dave to join the practice. Working side by side with his brother for the next 25 years gave Dr. Sam great pleasure as he first mentored Dr. Dave and later on became his colleague and partner. He definitely knows that he is now leaving the practice in Dr. Dave’s very capable and caring hands. Dr. Sam loves tradition and is thrilled that Schwartz Pediatrics will continue to maintain its strong family bond with the addition of Dr. Dave’s son, Dr. Henry “Elie” Schwartz, to the practice.

Dr. Sam will now be able to spend more time reading, working on crossword puzzles, attending religious classes, listening to classical music, playing piano, walking his dog, doting on his grandson Spencer, and traveling with his wife Sharon.

We want to thank Dr. Sam for all his hard work and dedication. We are all grateful for his tireless devotion to his patients.

Good luck Dr. Sam…you will be missed!

Dr. Dave is Chairman of the Department of Pediatrics at St. Alexius Medical Center

Schwartz Pediatrics is excited to announce that Dr. Dave continues as chairman of the Department of Pediatrics at St. Alexius Medical Center (SAMC) in Hoffman Estates. He has been in this leadership role since January 1, 2015.

Dr. Dave has been very involved at SAMC for a number of years by serving on several committees and helping write many of the algorithms used in the newborn nursery.

A few years ago Dr. Dave started teaching the Loyola medical students as part of their pediatric rotation at SAMC. This has quickly become his favorite part of the week. He loves teaching the students and is glad to give back to the younger doctors. He now carries the title of an affiliate faculty member in the Loyola University Stritch School of Medicine.

Dr. Dave continues to work diligently focusing on improving the quality of care for his pediatric patients. He is a current board member of Health Plus Physicians Organization (HPPO) and for the past decade is an active participant in its Medical Management Committee.

Dr. Dave remains an avid bike rider and constantly promotes bike helmet safety for his patients. Several years ago he joined up with Health Plus Physicians Organization and some local bike shops in a bike helmet safety campaign by awarding “Helmets R Cool” t-shirts to all the participants. You can see those yellow t-shirts all summer long.

Congratulations Dr. Dave!
